The Cardio-Metabolic Diseases Research department at Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a driven and skilled Molecular Biologist to join our team of talented scientists. Located in close proximity to New York, the Ridgefield site, in Connecticut, harbors the R&D activities of Boehringer Ingelheim in the US and is home to our dynamic team committed to discovering innovative medicines to improve the life of patients with cardio-metabolic diseases.
The successful candidate is a skilled scientist with strong expertise in classical and novel molecular biology techniques and who is experienced in utilizing automation systems to assist with laboratory workflows.
The scientist will work on supporting advancement of drug targets in the field of cardio-metabolic diseases including target validation, mechanistic and functional assay development and molecule evaluation. This position will support ongoing efforts to automate manual workflows and processes onto a semi-automated/fully automated robotics platform.

Conductsscientificresearchutilizing molecular biology techniques,interprets experimental results and integrates them with project objectives
Responsiblefor technical leadership of automation systems relevant to molecular biologytechniques
Collaborateswith peers and cross functional teams and provides technical guidance in areasof expertise
Effectivelyorganizes and communicate results and findings internally within and acrossdepartments as well as externally
Required Skills andAbilities:
Experiencewith nucleic acid sample preparation technologies (e.g. primer design, RT-qPCRetc.) from human tissue and cell lines – FFPE preparations a plus
Knowledgein plasmid construct design, agarose gel electrophoresis, RNA/DNA purification,sequencing and sequence analysis
Provenexperience in modern molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR optimization,troubleshooting) and related primary data analysis
Experiencein running automation and high throughput instrumentation including liquidhandlers (Beckman Biomek) and library preparations
Agilityin prioritizing efforts and ability to multi-task to deliver on commitments
Abilityto work in a fast-paced collaborative environment while maintaining a highlevel of attention to detail
Desired Skills and Abilities:
Familiarity with generating AAV, lentiviral,minicircle and other gene delivery vectors
Ability to manipulate cells using plasmid and siRNAtransfection and viral transduction
ddPCR™, Next Generation Sequencing (Illumina®HiSeq, NextSeq) and single cell microfluidic platforms (Fluidigm, 10x Genomics)a plus
Ability to work with Laboratory InformationManagement System (LIMS)
- Master’s Degree with 3+ years' experience in relatedscientific discipline or Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years' experience inrelated scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field
- Master’s Degree with 6+ years' experience in relatedscientific discipline or Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years' experience inrelated scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field
