Description:

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a motivated and innovative Scientist III/IV to join the Material & Analytical Sciences department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. As an active member of this group, the Scientist III/IV will contribute to R&D projects. The Scientist III/IV should have a desire to build on their knowledge of analytical chemistry and learn new technologies and methodologies in an innovative environment.

Duties &Responsibilities:

  • Initiates and completes routine duties in anindependent and efficient manner; Troubleshoots effectively and solvestechnical problems independently; operates lab equipment independently andis responsible for maintenance.

  • Initiates and executes non-routine duties/experimentson the basis of literature analysis, business, regulatory and industryneed

  • Applies basic scientific, technical and complianceprinciples, performs literature searches, attends scientific/industryrelated conferences and keeps abreast of literature/regulations in ownfield with minimal supervision

  • Proposes new experiments/technologies based on science,industry trends, technology as well as overall understanding of thedevelopment/clinical supply process; Demonstrates expertise in field andcontributes to training junior level scientists/staff

  • Effectively communicates and defends own work in thecontext of team and department goals both orally and in writing

  • Exhibits ability to interpret standard and complexproject requirements and results, and makes appropriate recommendations toincrease efficiencies in association with all applicable regulations

  • Writes protocols and procedures; Participates inwriting a significant portion of technical reports: reports and treatsdata with a high level of integrity

Scientist III Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree with three plus (3+) years’ experiencein AnalyticalChemistry or related scientific discipline, or Bachelor’sDegree with seven plus (7+) years’ experience in AnalyticalChemistry or related scientific discipline, or equivalent experience in related field

  • Knowledge andexperience in chromatographic method development and validation for drugsubstance/intermediates.

  • Supplemental technical courses in area ofexpertise

  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and systemswith independence

  • Ability to draft technical reports

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communicationskills

  • Concise and accurate reporting of technical data andinterpretation thereof

  • Proven problem solving ability

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of applicable GMP andGLP regulations

  • Stronginterpersonal skills and ability to work productively in a teamenvironment

  • May require an ability to push, pull, lift and carryobjects up to 50 lbs

  • May require ability to wear a Respirator

Scientist IVRequirements:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution withsix-plus (6+) years of experience in AnalyticalChemistry or related scientific discipline, or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with 10+ years ofexperience in AnalyticalChemistry, or related scientific disciplineor equivalent experience in related field

  • Knowledge andexperience in chromatographic method development and validation for drugsubstance/intermediates

  • Supplemental technical courses in area ofexpertise

  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and systemswith independence

  • Ability to draft technical reports

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communicationskills

  • Concise and accurate reporting of technical data andinterpretation thereof

  • Proven problem solving ability

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of applicable GMP andGLP regulations; able to act for supervisor in his/her absence

  • Stronginterpersonal skills and ability to work productively in a teamenvironment

  • May require an ability to push, pull, lift and carryobjects up to 50 lbs

  • May require ability to wear a Respirator
