Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and highly motivated Scientist II to join the Viral Platforms Group in Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) Department at our US headquarters in Ridgefield, CT. The main responsibility of this position is to develop the assays (cell-based, ligand binding-based, PCR-based) used for evaluating PK and immunogenicity of viral vectors in a non-clinical and clinical setting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design/develop/perform PCR-based assays (qPCR, qRT-PCR, SL-qPCR, and/or digital PCR) to detect viral-vector based drugs and quantify their level in biological samples.

  • Design/develop/perform cell- based and ligand binding-based assays to detect antibodies against viral-vector based drugs.

  • Design/develop/perform exploratory studies in vivo (primarily mice).

  • Operate and maintain lab equipment; initiate and complete routine procedures in an independent and efficient manner; troubleshoot effectively and solve scientific problems.

  • Independently apply basic scientific principles, perform literature searches, attend scientific meetings, and keep abreast of literature in relevant scientific fields. the candidate should also be willing to publish their work when appropriate.

  • Serve as scientific monitor for assay performance at external CROs.

  • Effectively communicate and defend own work in the context of team and department goals, both orally and in writing.

  • Co-author protocols and procedures.

  • Report and treat data with a high level of integrity and ethics; author/contribute to protocols, procedures, and technical reports; make scientific presentations internally and externally.

  • Comply with applicable regulations; perform all work in a safe manner; maintain proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor´s Degree with 3+ years experience in Immunology, Virology, Biochemistry or similar; or Master´s Degree in Immunology, Virology, Biochemistry or similar; or equivalent experience in related field

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing one or more of the following: in vitro cell-based assays, ligand binding-based immunoassays, PCR-based assays.

  • Demonstrates an appropriate level of understanding of immunology and viral vectors (e.g. VSV, AAV, HIV).

  • Proficient in cell culture.

  • Hands on experience performing routine animal procedures (e.g. mouse tail-vein injection/ tissue collection) is a plus.

  • Hands on experience in ELISA, multiple assay platforms (Envision, Spectramax, MSD etc), flow cytometry experience is a plus.

  • Hands on experience with validation of bioanalytical methods for biologics in a regulatory environment (GLP/GCP) is desirable.

  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment independently.

  • Proven problem-solving ability.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Be a team player in a dynamic environment.

Compensation Data
