Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) is currently seeking a driven and innovative PostdoctoralScientist in Regenerative Medicine to join our Research Beyond Borders (RBB) department in Ridgefield, CT and to investigate new therapeutic targets for pancreatic beta-cell regeneration indiabetes .

As a Postdoctoral Scientist, you will be a primary driver of fundamental research and technology innovation in the area of Regenerative Medicine and Drug Discovery. In particular, we are recruiting for a creative and highly motivated researcher to explore basic pancreatic islet biology and translate novel findings into drug and gene therapy target discovery for diabetes. The ideal candidate for this position will be an independently driven molecular biologist who can utilize in vitro/ex vivo assay development to elucidate signaling events and molecular mechanisms important for pancreatic beta-cell regeneration in vivo. As a Postdoc in RBB Regenerative Medicine, you will join a team of highly experienced scientists working at the cutting edge of science and technology. You will be mentored by a senior scientist and learn how to become an independent scientist in the pharma/biotech industry. BI Postdocs are encouraged to present their work at domestic and international conferences and to publish their findings in top-tier scientific journals.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop broad knowledge infield of expertise, including the ability to interpret current literatureand understand implications for own projects

  • Design and perform scientificexperiments in hypothesis-driven research, establish new methodologies andprotocols to move projects forward

  • Execute cutting edge researchunder the mentorship of a senior scientist.

  • Prepare and communicate cleartechnical reports, publications and oral presentations. Deliver projectupdates to colleagues and supervisors on a regular basis

  • Dive into molecular biology tofurther science and potentially discover new therapeutic targets for drugdevelopment

  • Comply with all applicableregulations, performing all work in a safe manner; maintain proper recordsin accordance with SOP’s and policies.

Desired Experience, Skills andAbilities:

  • Original thinking, high levelof motivation, and ability to work independently as well ascollaboratively

  • Demonstrated creativity andinitiative in driving cutting edge research

  • Scientific curiosity andpassion for elucidating the unknown

  • Demonstrated knowledge of StemCell/Pancreas/Islet biology, hands-on experience with in vitro stemcell/pancreatic islet cell assay development and data analyses preferred

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in MolecularBiology or relevant field from an accredited institution

  • Broad expertise in standardmolecular biology and cell culture techniques

  • Proven track record ofscientific excellence through high quality scientific publications

  • Strategic research planningability

  • Exceptional written and oralcommunication skills
