The purpose of this role is to contribute to and support R&D Project Excellence in defining and establishing project excellence and state of the art ways of working in projects. The R&D Project Excellence Manager will work globally with the other Project Excellence Managers and the Head of the function as well as with the other sub-functions in Strategy, Portfolio and resource management to: Contribute to the development of project management processes for BI Animal Health R&D; Support consistent application of key project management best practices and planning tools; Provide guidance on expectations and behaviours in the project matrix environment; Monitor KPIs for project performance; Deliver training and on-boarding of new employees contributing to projects with regard to key project management processes and roles and responsibilities; Provide facilitation for risk assessment, project team health-checks, after-action reviews, development team project kick-off workshops, etc., as required

Duties & Responsibilities:
Contribute to defining standards for project management processes and practices.
Lead activities as delegated by Head of R&D Project Excellence.
Provide support as required to local / cross-geographic teams on behalf of Project Excellence for implementation of standard project management processes
Deliver facilitation to Project Teams and other target audiences on behalf of Project excellence, in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness of project work and related outputs
Monitor Project Performance and conduct project health checks. Provide feedback to project leaders and teams on areas of improvement and correction, in order to optimize project delivery.
Liaise with partners in Strategy, Portfolio and Resource Management on interdependencies
Assist in building a Project Management Community and network for BI Animal Health
Support the Head of Project Excellence on ad hoc requests related to portfolio and project management
Develop, organize and deliver trainings to project teams and other audiences as required to implement and support project excellence across the organization
Veterinary/Medical/Scientific degree from an accredited institution required or Business Degree from an accredited institution with extensive experience in scientific R&D.
At least five (5) years knowledge and experience in an R&D project management role.
PMP or equivalent experience in project management.
Five (5) years of knowledge and experience in R&D of the Pharmaceutical Industry, including early stage development (research), late stage development, and commercialisation. Animal Health experience is a plus, but not essential.
Experience working in multicultural / global team environment.
Willingness to travel (10-20%).
Experience of working in US and/or France and advantage. Fluent in English. German and/or French an advantage, but not essential.
Excellent analytical skills / fluent in problem solving.
Flexibility and agility to cope with an evolving environment. Proven track record of impact in organisation undergoing change and growth.
Self-motivated and self organised, able to work without close supervision but with ability to partner with internal business colleagues and external consultants.
Strong communication skills and ability to relate to individuals at all levels in the organisation.
Experience in delivering training and facilitating culturally diverse groups.
Passionate and with positive attitude, able to motivate others to perform at their best.
Experienced in MS Project.
Knowledge of Planisware an advantage.
This job is a senior level position requiring expertise and global experience in project leadership and project management best practices in the pharma/vaccines environment.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
