Market Intelligence Analyst III Description:

The Analyst III will serve as subject matter expert on market data for internal teams and data providers. The MI analyst will also work to develop and oversee best practices for intake, quality control, routine reporting and interpretation. The Analyst will also be responsible for managing and prioritizing multiple initiatives; engaging in business discussions with both sales and marketing teams; gathering market and competitive intelligence to support decision making; guide the development and use of analytics tools, and leveraging data and analytics to create competitive advantage.

The Market Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for the transformation of data into appealing and understandable visualizations that improve business insights. This includes user interface design as well as other visual considerations. This role will work closely with the end users as well as Data Scientists and Developers to ensure data and analytics meet business needs. Further, this role will liaise with the business to facilitate development of species and product outlooks based on a robust assessment of all available data and industry intel. The role will drive from reporting and dashboarding to a consultative partnership that yields prescriptive and predictive analytics.

Duties & Responsibilities

Analytics: Define Optimal Delivery Platform

  • Interface with business users to understand business challenges and to take a consultative role by learning the business from interactions with a range of stakeholders ranging from end users to R&D

  • Determine format of delivery that will maximize usefulness to the business, to include charts, tables, PDFs, Power Points, and interactive tools

  • Assist in developing best practices for data intake, QC, presentation and sharing across the organization

  • Recommend analytical processes or tools to increase the effectiveness of this role

Analytics: Develop Visualizations

  • Conceptualize, design and develop data visualization solutions that synthesize complex data into an intuitive format. Develop concepts into clear communications for Sales and Marketing Leadership and key stakeholders

  • Collaborate with Data Scientist, Developers and subject matter experts to develop best practices for data harmonization and predictive analytics

Analytics: Consultation and development of insights

  • Leverage all available data and intelligence and work with the broader team to develop actionable insights, and share results with business users

  • Drive ongoing dialogue to follow up on key questions from each analysis as needed and as prioritized by the business. Work within the team to develop 6-12 month outlooks that consolidate environmental and internal data.

Analytics: Market data Subject Matter Expert

  • Demonstrates ability to know and understand the business stakeholders in sales and marketing and can quickly respond to and even anticipate business needs

  • Act as a consultative partner to the business, proactively learn about market dynamics and drivers, and bring insights forward.

  • Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their strategy.

  • Facilitate the communication and translation of business user requirements and solutions between the customer community (internal and external customers) and internal IT.

  • Assist stakeholders to diagnose problems and understand market dynamics.

  • Explore new opportunities for data that can enhance existing knowledge base


  • Present and facilitate meetings adapting content to the different audiences.

  • Establish open, transparent communications

  • Manage different stakeholders and influence behaviors related to the use of the information by communicating success, concerns, risks, and status updates on related work.

  • Collaborate with peers to share learnings, core processes, systems, and best practices.

  • Cultivate teamwork by facilitating cross department communication.

  • Communicate issues or outages as outlined in the Data Governance program utilizing a data steward alert.

Strategic Projects:

  • Participate in projects or sub teams as needed to execute objectives.

  • Support a project contract or charter or plan to include but are not limited to: executive summary, objectives, scope, timeline, milestones, deliverables, organization, impacts, benefits, cost, assumptions, risks, and leadership approvals.

  • Utilize agile project methodology to include kick off, requirements, alpha, beta, final review, and user acceptance testing as needed.

Data Stewardship:

  • Actively support all aspects of the BIAH Data Governance Program.

  • Identify causes of poor data quality management, implement solutions and communicate findings to employees, management, and stakeholders.

  • Ensure processes adhere to data management policy.

  • Collaborate with Business Process owners and Data Stewards to develop methods for synchronizing data entering company systems.

  • Responsible for ensuring issues and/or outages are communicated to the user community.

  • Manages data vendor relationships to ensure data is subject to QC and methodologies consistent with business needs

  • Shares information on data strengths and weaknesses based on underlying methodologies to ensure results are leveraged appropriately

Regulatory :

  • Performs all Company business in accordance with all regulations (e.g. EEO, FDA, OSHA, PDMA, EPA, PhRMA, etc.) and Company policies and procedures.

  • Report all violations immediately to management.

  • Document observations and provide information to management as necessary.

  • Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts and BIAH employees.


  • Bachelors’ Degree, from an accredited institution, in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field.

  • Master’s degree, from an accredited institution in related field is preferred.

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of Animal Health industry experience and three (3) years’ experience in a related role.

  • Basic knowledge of market research analytical frameworks for conducting and analyzing primary market research.

  • Proficiency in visualization and analytic tools including, Qlik, and Cognos and preferably Tableau.

  • Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills.

  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply principles, concepts, practices, and standards including knowledge and use of Animal Health or Pharma data and basic working knowledge of industry practices and science is helpful

  • Ability to gain credibility as a go-to expert and to build strong relationships across business

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas, facts, and technical information to senior management, as well as other internal customers both verbally and written at all levels in the organization and in a one-to-one, as well as one-to-many formats.

  • Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills and able to take complex analytics and disparate datasets, and make the results easy to understand across various teams and in visually impactful and intuitive ways.

  • Experience developing business strategy

  • Demonstrates a drive for continuous improvement and learning new things

  • Familiarity with Syndicated data providers is a plus

  • History of successful performance.

  • Ability to travel (may include overnight travel)
