Boehringer Ingelheim Post Doc - Researcher Bioprocess Development and Data Science in Biberach, Germany
The Position
As a Postdoctoral Researcher with a strong background in Bioprocess Development you will focus on implementing state-of-the-art modeling and data science methods to simulate and optimize bioprocesses. You will collaborate with a team of experts in (bio-)process engineering, data science and digitization, who apply their skills to bioprocess development and optimization.
This Position is limited for 2 years.

Tasks & responsibilities
In your new role, you will develop and implement mathematical models and data science methods to provide a systematic understanding of bioprocesses and simulate and optimize them.
You will collaborate with subject matter experts to co-develop a pipeline of impactful tools. Thereby, you will use data science and AI to improve data-based decision making in bioprocess development.
Furthermore, you will facilitate a transparent communication and knowledge sharing as well as cooperate with all groups in the Bioprocess Development department and across related areas.
You will consult the Bioprocess Development leadership team and corresponding groups on data science and digitalization. In addition, you will facilitate collaboration with other functions, stakeholders, internal and external partners.
Requirements
PhD in Process Engineering, Computer Sciences, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field with a strong background in (bio-)process engineering and understanding of engineering aspects in bioprocesses
Demonstrated track record of implementing mathematical models and data science in providing a systematic understanding of bioprocesses, simulation and optimization
Expertise in relevant tools and libraries for AI/ML in a professional setting, such as the Python ecosystem
Extensive knowledge of machine learning from a fundamental and use-case perspective
Experience in building end-to-end data science processes, ideally in an industry setting and with diverse data types
Strong team player with a commitment to share knowledge through mentoring and team development
Excellent communication skills and dedication to leading students
